The Moscow City Tourism Committee and HSE ART AND DESIGN SCHOOL holds an international youth competition aimed at fostering cultural contacts, ensuring academic mobility, and promoting tourism. The focus of the event is to spotlight participants’ home cities through the creation of brief video presentations.

About the competition

In preparation for the competition, we’re organizing a partnership program featuring experts from various countries. They’ll discuss best practices for city promotion and enhancing tourist appeal. Competition participants can engage in this program online and obtain a participation certificate.

The top creative universities are invited to participate in the competition. Representatives from these universities, upon partnering with the competition, join the event as members of the international jury and contribute to the execution of the online educational program.

The Moscow City Tourism Committee and HSE Art and Design School are inviting young authors — artists, directors and all those working with video content — to participate in an international competition of short videos about cities and locations.

The competition features a series of sessions with experts on urbanism and tourism, master classes from the leading film-making specialists, directors and educators. Participants will be able to complete the programme online and get a certificate.

Prizes

The top 10 finalists will be awarded a prize consisting of a fully funded trip to Moscow. This includes accommodation, guided tours of significant cultural and historical sites, visits to city museums, and tours of leading creative universities in Moscow. Guidlines & recommendations

Terms of reference for the creation of videos:

We invite you to participate in a contest of videos representing cities. You will have to shoot or find in your archives a short video about your city or favorite location in any of the known genres. It doesn’t matter if you have experience in creating video content or if you are just starting your entry into this world.

It can be an animated video, a feature film, an interview, a research film, a biography film, a monologue, a vlog or a mix of the above genres. The main thing to remember is that the timing can not exceed 3 minutes. The main purpose of the video is to attract the viewer’s attention and immerse them in your idea through visual and audiovisual perception, as well as to familiarize them with your city or chosen location and its history.

    Our recommendations:

    —  Write an original script that will reflect your creativity and inspire others — Maintain a unified style so that your video is cohesive and memorable — Remember that your movie should not offend others

    Technical guidelines, but not restrictions:

    — Both horizontally and vertically oriented clips are accepted for the contest — It is possible to use photo, animated and infographic content — The recommended HD aspect ratio is 4K (1920×1080) to ensure high quality playback of your content — When using voice-overs or in-camera performances, it is recommended to use loop microphones, on-camera microphones for clear and high quality sound

The second stage of the competition

After expert evaluation and jury voting, 10 finalists will be selected and invited to come to Moscow, where the winner will be selected and will have the opportunity to prove themselves by making a short film (up to 10 minutes) dedicated to Moscow with the help of a professional team and modern technology.
