Limited edition lighting collection László
atelier atris Designers: Dimi Litz, Dmitry Beznosov
The collection is inspired by the art of László Moholy-Nagy, his delicate sense of composition and his contribution to design and art.

László was a master at the Bauhaus metal workshop. Under his mentorship, many Bauhaus iconic lamps were created. In my opinion, standing at the origin, he had the most profound influence on 20th century design.
The series consists of four lamps. There are 101 of each design in honor of 101 years since Moholy-Nagy led the metal workshop in 1923.

The lamps are made of black dolerite, white marble and blackened steel. The spectrum of materials refers to Laszlo’s favorite colors.
The electrochemical coating, reminiscent of ink stains on paper — ideal material for a collection dedicated to the artist who preferred black to many colors.
The minerals are mined in the Urals. Both are almost completely exhausted. The stone is processed by hand in the Chelyabinsk region — a region famous for its stone-cutting art.

The work has been in progress since the summer of 2018. Technology allowed the project to be realized only now.
The collection is an homage to a man I deeply respect.
