The exploration of outer space has always been of interest to mankind, but at the same time it has scared the possibility of meeting with a potentially aggressive and unfriendly environment. The invention of the suit allowed the human body to overcome its inherent organic barrier of becoming a explorer of outer space, like the Voyager or Pioner probes. The image of the book is based on a metaphor for a sealed shell, multilayered and fragile. The visual study contains two parts: «scanner as a fortune» and «scander as a shell».
The color solution of the white-orange book was inspired by the technological features of the suit. The orange suit is designed to fly and land on a space shuttle. It’s not about any shade of orange, it’s about the so-called international orange. This color has a deeper, more reddish shade and is clearly visible in any landscape. The white color is the color of space space suites, the best reflection of the rays in outer space. One of the challenges in creating the visual study was the graphicization of a paradoxical metaphor: protection and at the same time vulnerability, multilayered tightness and fragility.
content and changing tangle
The suit as a state is part of a visual study in which the suit phenomenon is viewed through the lens of mass culture and image, of a particular human condition. In this case, it is no longer a machine for living in space, but a cultural phenomenon of art, media and the press.
The suit as a shell is the next aspect of visual exploration, in which the suit is already a tool for living and working in space, a complex and evolving system of living outside our planet.
A spaceman’s character travels according to the book.
The references to the images in the text are marked in the circles
The book is rhythmically and tellingly divided into two parts. The «state of the suit» is more bright, densely photographic. The suit envelope contains more textual information, diagrams and theoretical material on technology and production.
levitating patterns of balls create a sense of weightlessness like jumping
The release from the book is the X-ray of the diagrams made during the post-sewering pin check.
The diagrams are printed in two colours and have a translation of the terms into Russian.
