The KON-TIKI is a simple raft made of balsa wood, on which Norwegian archaeologist Thor Heyerdahl and his team sailed from South America to Polynesia to prove that ancient Indians could have done the same. Then, to prove that the ancient Egyptians could visit America, he twice tried to cross the Atlantic in RA boats. The first one is expected (otherwise why would the second one be needed?) it fell apart, but on the second copy the Tour was still able to reach the New World. Does this prove that the Indians or the Egyptians really crossed the oceans? Absolutely not. But it proves that they could do it! Experimental archaeology is the name of this adventurous science....
