Acronyms encapsulate four or five characteristics that describe the reality around us and, taken together, form a concept one can rely on to build tactics and strategies.

B — Brittle → Flexibility and Resilience If everything can change suddenly, it’s important to stay flexible — ready to rethink anything in business or in life — and to build resilience.

N — Nonlinear → Context and Flexibility When the consequences of actions are unclear, it helps to keep the broader context in mind and remain flexible — able to maneuver.

S — Split Familiar systems and patterns no longer work, and the planning horizon becomes short.
H — Horrible A persistent sense of anxiety accompanies people and interferes with making timely, sound decisions.
I–Inconceivable There is no certainty that any decision will lead to a result; forecasting becomes difficult, sometimes even pointless.
V–Vicious It is impossible to fully comprehend what is happening, yet after the crisis the world will change, entering a new stage of development.
