At the dawn of the 20th century, the car was an expensive toy for rich people, assembled manually by small workshops. The American Henry Ford dreamed otherwise: he saw the car as an accessible and reliable vehicle for everyone. His obsession with the idea of lowering costs and harmonizing production led to the creation in 1908 of a car that permanently changed the world, the Ford Model T.

Model T’s success was made possible by a revolutionary method of production. In 1913, the Ford factory in Highland Park launched the world’s first moving assembly line: the car was driving past the workers and each of them performed one simple operation. This reduced chassis assembly time from 12 o’clock to an hour and a half. Ford’s slogan was «A car can be any color unless it’s black.» This phrase reflected the essence of his approach: unification and speed, where a fast-drinking black enamel was the most practical solution.
Technical characteristics
Model T, or Lizzie’s Lizzie, as the Americans love her, was designed to be simple and durable to withstand the bad roads of rural America. The car was equipped with a 2.9-litre 4-cylinder engine, which developed a capacity of about 20 litres. It could operate on petrol, kerosene or ethanol, which allowed the owners flexibility in the choice of fuel. The power plant was combined with a gearbox and a rear bridge, forming an unsolved block — an innovative solution for those years. Driving the car was a non-trivial task. The driver used three pedals: the left was in charge of switching gears (first, second, and neutral), the central was in reverse, and the right was in charge of the brake. The wheel on the steering column controlled the throttle. Despite this, Model T raced to 60–70 km/h, and his suspension on two cross-ressors handled the boobs with confidence.

People’s love
The simplicity of Model T’s design made it the perfect platform for remodeling. Owners themselves turned their Lizzy Tins into tractors, sawmills, current generators, fire trucks, and even snowballs. There were kits for turning a car into a motor boat. This universality has made Model T not just a transport, but a real farm helper for millions of farmers and workers.
Heritage and Impact
Ford Model T is not just a car, it is a social and industrial phenomenon. He wasn’t the first car in history, but he was the first really massive car. Thanks to the conveyor, its price fell from $850 in 1908 to $260 by 1925, making it available to the average American. Between 1908 and 1927, more than 15 million copies of Model T were released. It has given impetus to the development of road infrastructure, the oil industry and tourism.

Ford Model T is rightly considered a symbol of industrial revolution and American enterprise. He has proven that a real technological breakthrough occurs when advanced engineering thinking becomes available to millions.
