Tatra pratyaya-eka-tānatā dhyānam (PYS 3.2) — ‘When you focus your attention on one object, holding it for a long time and continuously — the result is meditation.’ The Yoga Sūtra becomes the basis for the zīn, which combines instructions for meditation (the practice of visualising light) with an artistic interpretation of the sensations and thoughts that arise in the process. The zine reflects a journey through states of meditative experience: from the chaos and confusion of the thoughts to calmness and a return to reality in a new state.
Zin consists of 18 pages that when combined with each other create a multi-layered wimmelbook where the viewer adjusts the saturation by flipping or layering. Each element is done in a different technique, the darker spreads are digital collages assembled from film photographs and scans.
