Губка — одна из фигур в цикле эссе Барта «Как жить вместе». Под губками понимаются интегрированные отбросы. Это те элементы любой структуры, что исключаются из неё, но остаются интегрированными как отверженные.
Состояние интегрированного отвержения предмета из среды — последствие выбора.
Его мы встречаем в повседневных сценах: беспорядочный стол со всем багажом во время сборов; пустая комната, из которой только что выселились. Задача натюрморта — показать отношения между вещами и их временным пространством.

Серия фотографий наследует документальность как метод. Как эссе Барта ведутся от лица «лирического героя», так и серия является автопортретом через окружающие меня вещи во время путешествий, в которые я отправлялась в этом модуле. Камера выбирает видеть новые пространства и старые предметы.
