Parajanov—100: Collage contest «The colour of Pomegranates»
This is my participation project for the collage contest. I am a student of Graphic design and Photography at Academy of Music, Dance and Visual Arts «Prof. Asen Diamandiev» — Plovdiv, Bulgaria. I decided to join the contest because of my admiration for Sergei Parajanov and his art.
I explored the story of the author’s youth, his love and muse, his burdens and complex thoughts. I started experimenting with red as is the color of the pomegranate.
Parajanov used not only colors, but symbolism as well to convey the genius of Sayat Nova’s poetry. I included my personal favourite symbols — the red lace, white shell, the cross, the church, books and etc.
«The color of pomegranates» serves a big purpose in my artistic journey — its cinematography, colors and beautifully told story inspired me to continue persuing art and experimenting every day.
