Table lamp «Camel in Marrakesh»

PROTECT STATUS: not protected

Table lamp «Camel in Marrakesh», Ksenia Aleksandrovna Torgashina

My artistic direction is recycling art. By manually recycling cardboard and paper, I create interior items using the papier-mâché technique. This allows me to transform waste into new, modern interior items that will serve people for a long time and function as monuments of environmental awareness.

I strive to contribute to contemporary art by drawing public attention to the problems of environmental pollution and the need to take measures to protect it.

Description from the author: The camel has a high value in Morocco. Even now, camels transport people and goods along desert paths inaccessible to motor vehicles, in addition, it gives milk and meat.

Marrakesh is the former capital of Morocco, a city known for its bazaars and festivals, hippies and criminals, devout pilgrims and outcast homeless people, intellectuals and scientists. It is one of the greatest cities in the world, a legendary place that, despite the influx of tourists, still retains an aura of mystery.

Translated from the Berber language, the word «mrakesh» means «red», which fully corresponds to the nickname that has been attached to Marrakesh for centuries — «Red City» — because of its bright terracotta facades of houses.

This is how this lamp appeared: the sinuous shape resembles the figure of a camel, and the bright print is unique Marrakesh.

The target audience is aesthetes, lovers of beauty and interior designers looking for stylish and functional solutions that meet modern aesthetic and environmental standards.

Technique: papier-mâché Material: metal frame, cardboard, interior paint, varnish, jute thread.
