In her work, Anna Chervonna rethinks cultural heritage through household items. The collection uses five characteristic ornaments of the old (early) period of Krestinsky carpets: «Tray», «Chop», «Birch», «Thought», «Flower pattern» (geometric and floral geometric ornaments). «A carpet on the wall was an ordinary attribute in the house for many residents of Russia. For me, it is a kind of lost code that unspoken thread unites people. In my artistic practice, I look for objects that are familiar to many and recreate them from brass mesh. The material is transparent, this is how I emphasize the unreality of objects of the past, — says the author. At the stage of collecting materials, I was most „drawn“ to the Krestinsky carpets — without ideal symmetry and honed hypnotic selection of elements. All the carpets from the „Krestiki“ collection are made according to original samples, photos of which were provided by the Omsk Region State Center of Science and Technology. It was important for me to preserve the „live“ pattern of the original carpets as much as possible in order to create a „print“ of memory from brass mesh.»
