This video is about Ahmedabad, the city I currently study and live in. I wanted to explore the city’s rich cultural heritage and ventured out to the «old city» amongst other areas, like the ‘Adalaj Stepwell’. I aimed to treat this like a Music Video. The Old part of the city included various historical monuments, mosques, markets and food items.
The soundtrack for the same was also made using sounds from around the city. For example, the sound of a rickshaw, a shopkeeper yelling, or even the sound of a metal pipe being dragged against a grill.
The video starts off slow and increases in pace towards the end. I wanted to bring out two aspects to this city, which is the quaint relaxed side, but the rush of all the shopkeepers and sellers in the market at the same time. Some visual techniques used in the video were, Hyperlapses, slow motion, fish-eye views, etc. I have also shot some graphic elements of the city, like various texts, signboards (in Hindi and Urdu), and also predominant motifs that one could see.
I shot this on an iPhone and made the soundtrack using garageband. Edited on Davinci resolve.
