«The Constellation» is a play by the contemporary British dramatist Nick Payne, written in 2011. The play describes the relationship of Roland, a beekeeper, and Marianne, a physical scientist. Marianne is poetic about space, quantum mechanics, string theory, and multiple universes. This affects the structure of the play: short scenes of interaction between heroes are repeated, each time with different outcomes.

In the end, it is clear that the fragmentation of the story is not related to string theory, but to the disease of the main character, due to the brain tumor, Marianne’s memories are falling apart.
