The exhibition «Both White» is a complex chronological statement. The name of the project refers to a famous psychological experiment in the USSR in the 70s, in which subjects were asked to name the color of a pyramid. Four people were co-participants in the experiment and only one was the subject of the experiment. All participants were shown two pyramids — black and white. The first four people said that both pyramids were white and the person on whom the experiment was carried out also repeated after them that «Both pyramids are white,» despite the fact that there were a white and a black pyramid in front of him.

This situation is similar to how people in Russia today have difficulty speaking publicly about what they really think due to fear, censorship and repression.

As a result, double consciousness is formed when people in public say what is expected of them, but in private — in the kitchen — they say what they really think about. Today, many are afraid to say: «No to war,» and many publicly support war, although in fact they are categorically against it.

The first starting point of the exhibition comes from the works shown in 2014 at the exhibition «Manifestation», where the author pointed out hidden political and social processes that would have to manifest themselves in the future (the plots of protests and uprisings of the Orange revolutions, protests in Ukraine).

As a continuation of this series, the artist specially created new works (drawings made of burnt paper in epoxy resin, using Soviet wallpaper from the 60s), as evidence of the fulfilled curse/prophecy.

The third part

The third is the deconstruction/destruction of exhibition galleries in order to «destroy the facade» and expose the historical walls, on the «wounds» of which to place «white» works (made by scratching soil from the canvas — the fourth part of the exhibition) as evidence of a new world.

The final part

The fourth part is work on testing visual acuity as an attempt to return the surrounding reality to itself, to make it identical to itself.
