

The textiles have cognitive, perceptive, physical, and sensitive properties that organically combine art and life. Artists don’t just create art, but use the narrative power of tissue. The word «textile» itself is associated with both texture and text. The tissue is transformed in the authors ' hands, the needle replaces the brush by trusting the viewer with the intimateity derived from family life (maternity, childhood), sexuality (tabotage of taboos, provocations), and the authors ' personal history.


The Ruarts Foundation presents a large exhibition of contemporary Russian artists. Nithi is the three floors of the foundation, representing manual labour. Nina Gomyashvili, the project’s sponsor, gathered the textile works of 39 artists, who are associated with the phenomenon of the rehabilitation of technicians and methods that have long been considered craftsmen and women’s activities.
